Technical Evenings

The Southern Africa Section had a very well attended presentation by Jacob Bentsen from Denmark entitled ‘Yxlon Portable X-Ray Tubes’ on Tuesday 3 October at SANDE in Impala Park, Boksburg.

The informative evening was arranged by Herbert Cullum from United Scientific. All present enjoyed the talk and demonstration.

The evening was a great success and the usual pizza completely disappeared!

18 September 2018

The Southern Africa Section had another good technical evening on Tuesday 18th September at SANDE in Impala Park.

Chris Georgiou from Techtra Engineering Consultants gave an extremely informative presentation and demonstration of eddy current tube testing with the Olympus Nortec 600D machine using existing near field and far field probes.

As always all present enjoyed the usual pizza!

The ASNT SA Section had a very informative technical evening on 19 June 2018 at SANDE in Impala Park, Boksburg. Garth Appel, Manager of the SAINT Professional Body gave a presentation on the New SAQA Accredited NDT qualification which should come into place in the next few months in South Africa.

There was a good turn out and everyone enjoyed the usual pizza.

The ASNT SA Section had a very well attended meeting on 17 April 2018 at SANDE in Impala Park.

20 people arrived to hear the talk about the new radiation safety regulations in South Africa. It was presented by Garth Appel from the SAINT Professional Body in SA.

The usual pizza went down very well!

13 July 2017

The Southern Africa Section had a small technical information evening on Thursday 13 July at SANDE in Impala Park.

Chris Gouws of Spectrometer Technologies gave a presentation entitled Non Destructive Testing and NDF.

It was a fun evening with a talk and a demonstration. Chris invited all present to bring along any material that they wanted to analyse or know the composition of.

The few who braved the icy weather were treated to piping hot pizza!
